I first encountered Les Liquides Imaginaires three years ago in a small Parisian store. It was one of those tucked-away boutiques that you stumble upon while wandering through the winding streets of Paris. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by an array of scents that were unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The brand immediately caught my attention with its artistic approach to perfumery, and I’ve been captivated ever since.

Les Liquides Imaginaires is a French art brand founded by Philippe Di Méo. The essence of this brand lies in its ability to bring back the magic of perfume, focusing on the deep connections that smells can create. Philippe’s creativity, curiosity, and artistic intuition shine through in every fragrance. He has a remarkable talent for weaving together ideas and stories, making each perfume a unique experience.

Blanche bête review

One of my personal favorites is Blanche Bete. This fragrance is a beautiful blend of floral, woody, and musky notes. It opens with a fresh, milky top note, followed by a heart of tuberose, jasmine, and mahonia, with a hint of frankincense. The base notes are warm and comforting, with vanilla, musk, tonka bean, and cocoa. This scent feels like a cozy blanket on a cool evening, perfect for any season. On my skin, it lasts about eight hours, starting with a soft projection and becoming more intimate over time. It reminds me of the smell of fresh white flowers with a touch of sweetness—like the little fruity pieces you find in your cereal.

Another fragrance that stands out to me is Dom Rosa. This scent is a perfect blend of warm and cool, making it ideal for both spring and fall. The opening notes of champagne, pomelo, and pear blend beautifully with the heart of damask rose, carnation, and olibanum. The base notes of white cedar, vetiver, and guaiac wood give it a lasting presence. The champagne note in Dom Rosa is so realistic; it adds a classy and romantic touch to the fragrance. It’s one of those scents that makes you feel elegant and sophisticated, perfect for special occasions.

ame du coeur review

Then there’s Ame du Coeur, a warm, spicy amber fragrance that’s ideal for any season. It opens with a burst of pink pepper, orange, ginger, and grapefruit, followed by a heart of guaiac wood, cocoa, raisins, and plum. The base is rich with vanilla, tonka bean, and vetiver. On my skin, Ame du Coeur lasts about six hours. It starts off powdery, reminding me of Bazooka gum with a twist of cardamom and vanilla, and finishes with a unique plasticine-like note with black pepper in the lead. It’s an interesting fragrance that I would recommend trying before committing to a full bottle.

Liquide is another fascinating scent from the brand. It’s an amber-floral fragrance that starts off masculine but finishes unisex. The top notes of saffron and mandarin give way to a heart of orange blossoms, sunny notes, carrot seeds, coriander, and jasmine. The base is a warm blend of white musk, ambroxan, vanilla, labdanum, and patchouli. Liquide has a rich, warm vibe with some leathery undertones, perhaps from the saffron. It makes me think of a hot desert or a busy street market filled with exotic spices and fruits. On me, it lasts for about eight hours.

Phantasma review

For those who prefer something fresh and green, Phantasma is a perfect choice. This fragrance is a lovely floral-green scent, ideal for spring and summer. It lasts around 10 to 12 hours on my skin, which is impressive! Phantasma opens with a hint of lemon and has a soft, fresh herbal quality. As it develops, it smells like freshly cut grass and early spring flowers. The scent is light, creamy, and buttery, thanks to the nutty notes. While it’s a unisex fragrance, to me, it feels quite feminine. It reminds me of the fresh, dewy stems of young flowers that you pick in the morning.

Desert Suave is a sweet, spicy, and fruity unisex fragrance. It has notes of sesame, cardamom, orange blossom, cedar, mandarin, and rose. On my skin, it lasted about 10 hours, leaving a deliciously sweet but not overwhelming spicy-date scent. The fragrance starts with a burst of dates, orange blossom, and orange, then turns into a nuttier scent thanks to the sesame note. The initial spicy and citrusy burst gradually reveals cloves and cardamom, making this fragrance a memorable experience.

buveur de vent review

Finally, there’s Buveur de Vent, a cool-weather unisex scent that focuses on a dry, thick leather accord. It has notes of leather, cypress, clary sage, cedar, moss, juniper, tarragon, labdanum, petit grain, sandalwood, and bergamot. This fragrance lasts about 10 hours on me and evokes images of elegant Arabian horses, contrasted by sharp cypress and sage. The cedar and moss are sweetened by juniper and tarragon, creating a fougère-like feel. It’s a perfect choice for those who love leather scents.

Exploring the perfumes from Les Liquides Imaginaires has been like embarking on a sensory journey through a world of smells. Each fragrance is unique and special, from the comforting Blanche Bete to the romantic Dom Rosa. There’s Ame du Coeur with its powdery notes, Liquide with its exotic scent, Phantasma with its freshness, Desert Suavewith its sweetness, and Buveur de Vent with its leatheriness. Philippe Di Méo has truly created something magical with these perfumes, and it’s a brand that stands out for its ability to capture the essence of perfumery.

If you’re looking for a signature scent, I encourage you to explore Les Liquides Imaginaires. Each perfume is like a little adventure in a bottle, offering a wide range of scents from fresh and lively to deep and mysterious. It’s a brand that truly knows how to turn perfume into an experience.
